Recently one of Gareth's fans sent a note asking that I check out his MySpace. I did *congratulates myself for being so smart* and found an artist with a unique style. Do yourself a favor and out check his MySpace. There is a quality to his music that reminds me of the ground breaking work was done by the Moody Blues, Threshold of a Dream. That same delicate sound and feel, bringing visuals of things not yet discovered. Sit back and let his music touch you, it will wipe away your stress and take you to a take you to a place deep inside yourself. Losillė
The Theory Eighteen months after laying down the original track for his debut instrumental album 'The Theory' 2006 heralds the completion, and introduction of Gareth Thomas' extensive solo musical project. All of the music on the album was recorded, and produced by Gareth, and reflects a wide range of his musical influences, from Progressive Rock and Heavy Metal, to Classical music and beyond. Musically, The Theory can be categorised into many different genres; however, similarities have already been drawn from the music, to bands such as Pink Floyd, and Porcupine Tree with listeners often describing the music as Ambient and Atmospheric. From these comparisons, Gareth decided on the moniker 'Ambient Progressive Rock', (APR) to best describe his overall musical sound. Work on The Theory began in the summer of 2004, initially as a separate musical project for Gareth to vent his creativity, outside of playing lead guitar for Welsh Progressive Rock band 'Sanction'. When relationships with Sanction became strained in early 2005, Gareth quit the band, which gave him more time to focus on his own music and a year later, The Theory, was finally completed. Currently, The Theory is being independently distributed via Gareth's website and MySpace page with four full-length tracks from The Theory, featured for preview. Such has been the interest in The Theory plans are in place to from a band to promote the music, in a live environment. Bio Gareth was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. He lived there until the age of ten, before returning to Great Britain, to live in South Wales, where is family originated. He first started playing electric guitar in 1998, following on from six years of classical piano training, and also started playing fretless bass in late 2003, at around the same time he became interested in Computer Recording techniques. Gareth has played in many different bands since the age of eighteen, and when he is not playing Hard Rock, he plays in an Acoustic/Jazz covers band called 'Crowd Around'. As A non-musical aside, Gareth also has a degree in Maths and Economics, and is awaiting the result for MSc in Business Economics and Finance
