The concert was hosted by Mark Gilmore and KRXQ 98 Rock Local Licks. Everyone received a CD with the purchase of a ticket. "The goal of this Compilation is to raise money and awareness for The Mustard Seed School for Homeless Children in Sacramento" It was a great idea, fun evening of music, a CD and you helped homeless children. Drop Seven is heavy and loud and makes the audience remember what it means to rock. Jerry on his drum kit falls nothing short of amazing with his feet killing the double. Angel has great leadership in the microphone, keeping the crowd involved and interested. As he set the stage there is an essence about him…maybe it was the skull fog machine effect or maybe it was his great hair flying all over the place. More than likely it was the fact that when he was on stage he had one of two missions; either to kick your ass or to send his message through vocals. When combined with guitars, drums and bass Drop Seven is a solid band on stage that exemplifies what metal should be. Personal Side Note: Perfect opening act for this show. Bring them in and kick their ass from the start. I will be seeing them again.
On the way to the show we had researched that there were five members of the band. Here there were three playing and they still blew up the Boardwalk. Front man Kainen led the impaired group through a set that was exactly what he promised in his interview. His vocals were consistent and his stage presence was awesome. Chris back there on his drum kit was blasting away while Hicks matched him on guitar. Graven Image is hard, heavy, and able to tear your face off! Personal Side Note: I would like to see the full line up and I hope they get a spot in the jagermusic program….thanks for the shot!!!!
This group has it all. They are young, hot and extraordinarily talented musically. If I had to guess what the members of this band grew up watching I would say MTV’s “Headbanger’s Ball” (in which case they had to start very young) During their set there is not a dull moment on stage. They obviously love having fun and playing in front of a crowd. With that they in turn influence the audience to reciprocate the energy. To make things even better their music backed up their performance. Shaun is an amazing guitarist for both style and musical ability. Skyler’s vocals are solid. Martin made up for not being able to spell “teddy bear” killing the bass. Q (the mysterious 5th member of the band) kicked ass on guitar. Bean somehow kept it all together and coherent on his kit. The set was so much fun and solid! Personal Side Note: Off stage you all are the funniest five dudes I have ever met. That fun loving personality will take you far!
Bipolar – Perfect name. Outside the band is so nice. Charlie is so sweet and such an innocent “looking” demeanor. The she gets the microphone in her hand and wow did the image change from who we met outside! Her vocals are strong, loud, and solid. All the while her stage presence and crowd interaction is excellent. She is an awesome front woman. Jason and Mole blend their guitar and bass to make a great sound.Brian on drums held it all together. With all their talents combined we are left hearing a kick ass band and seeing a great show! Personal Side Note: We need to get Charlie a shirt that states “I am NOT a groupie..I am the lead singer of the band!” Thend – Not to be confused with “The End,” though they were the end of this show. J Wow and again Wow. We were told this band had two complete drum kits in the act and my first thought was “why?.....I suppose I will see tonight.” I did and if you haven’t you should. The sound Keith and Rob produced collectively is nuts. Damien is a maniac on the bass. Aaron drives the momentum of the band into high speed and right into the crowd. This set from top to bottom was fast, hard hitting, heavy and most importantly… a fricking blast! Not one person in the crowd wasn’t bouncing with the band. Thend is a blast to watch and listen to. I believe they were the perfect headliner for this show. Personal Side Note: Thanks for being cool about letting us get on stage for photos. Also special thanks to Aaron for giving Losillë an up, close and personal of his groin, I thought it was hysterical. And finally thank you for supporting our troops!
