While I was gallivanting all over the east coast I ran across a couple bands here and there  and tried to keep in contact with as many as I could. My history with Coretez traces back to long before the band was even made. Years ago when the original Road Runner band Ill Nino was on the road I was a street teamer for them and got to know Coretez.

Roger and I always got along and drank together and did crazy shit. That is another story in itself. However, meanwhile on the East Coast I remember meeting Marc for the first time in Baltimore when his band (at the time) Gargantua Soul was playing with Margret Heater.

When I moved to Rhode Island I saw GSoul win a Hard Rock Cafe battle of the bands in NYC and don't really recall a lot of the evening. But it was fun and I teamed for them for a long time. Now we fast forward to how this all ties together. When Roger left Ill Nino, Coretez was created. Later Marc  "heard Coretez were looking for new members.  I asked Jamey <from>Hatebreed to introduce us.  He set me up with Roger and then from there, Marc Rizzo was out to do his thing with Soulfly, and Roger and I decided to re-build the band." The current line up is:

Roger Vasquez - Vocals and Percussion
Marc Amendola - Guitar and Vocals
   Jamie Miceli - Guitar
Wilson De La Cruz - Bass
   Pete Barrera - Drums

Marc tells me that they are doing multiple showcases, writing in the studio, looking for labels, and have a lot of stuff going on right now. I always catch him online LATE at night over here in Cali and he is in CT saying he just got out of the studio so you know they are working hard and working late. They have Jamey Jasta helping them look for different options and that is a good man to have on your side. Whoever reads this must go to their web site to check out their music and buy merch because these guys rock.

I know that because as Coretez was being created I was trapped on a navy ship in the middle of an ocean or sea and no way to see Coretez or get to their web site. However, before moving back to Cali I had one last chance the day after my birthday...in Mass...so My good friend Charlotte flew up from Alabama and we got in a car and drove up to Mass to surprise them. After lots of nodoz, driving and toll booths we made it and it was so good to see Marc and Roger again. I was so excited to see them play it was one of the best birthday/go away presents yet. They are all amazing musicians, anyone who knows Marc knows that his music is more like crack to him. There is just mind blowing guitars and the whole band is rock that will rip your face off.

There are harmonies, massive rhythms, screaming guitars, melodies...singing...Let's talk about the singing, the last time I saw Roger he was playing percussion on the back line of Ill Nino...now he was singing, screaming and performing as the front man....WHERE THE HELL DID HE LEARN TO SING?!?! I jokingly asked him and in truth I am glad he did, because he was bad ass at it. At some point in the show he fell off the drum set and was on the floor but got up and didn't miss a beat. Luckily he wasn't bleeding either.  If you are coming in this band thinking it is another Ill Nino, then I think you will be pleasantly surprised that it is not that at all...it is something totally different and great in it's own light.

Marc also tells me about all the shows I get to miss being on the other side of the country, however if you are on the east coast or going there go to the web site check out when they are playing and get up there to see them jamm because you will love it!

To the Band: Hey guys you know I love you and will see you as soon as I can get out that way or get you all out here!!!! Much Love!
