Located in the heart of Hollywood, LA's own Musicians Institute announces the launch of a non-profit scholarship fund dedicated to providing financial assistance to needy students - The Musicians Foundation. Spearheading the Foundation's fundraising efforts will be music industry veteran Don Grierson. Musicians Institute provides education, creative development and professional training to students of guitar, bass, percussion, keyboards, voice, guitar-making, audio engineering, music production, music video directing and music business. Over the past three decades, MI's diverse student body has included many who would go on to become some of the most successful professionals in the industry, including band members and backing musicians performing with such internationally famous artists as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Weezer, Lindsay Lohan, Christina Aguilera, Pink, Korn, Nine Inch Nails, and dozens more.

But many MI students with equal potential are unable to complete their education because their families cannot afford the financial burden. Some must split their time between school and work yet still cannot make financial ends meet. The goal of The Musicians Foundation is to help these talented musicians achieve their educational and musical aspirations through scholarships that allow them to stay in school and complete their studies. These tax-deductible scholarships are awarded to students who show a genuine passion and commitment to learning and to furthering their careers in the music industry. The David Geffen Foundation, among others, has already made a generous contribution, and Foundation head Grierson has promised an intensive effort to publicize the fund within the industry, among alumni and to the general public.

Despite its success in priming over 20,000 musicians, producers, engineers, vocalists and music industry professionals for careers in every contemporary genre of music rock, funk, R&B, hip-hop, jazz, blues, and fusion, among othersMusicians Institute (MI) is still one of the best kept secrets in the music education field. Located in the heart of Hollywood, just blocks from the Capitol Records tower, MI has an incredible history of innovation dating back to its origins in 1977 as the Guitar Institute of Technology (GIT), which broke new ground as a performance-based contemporary music school taught by working professionals. Within a few years, GIT was joined by bass and drum programs to form Musicians Institute and the evolution has continued to this day with degree and certificate programs for career-minded guitarists, bassists, drummers, vocalists, keyboardists, recording engineers, independent producers, guitar makers, music business professionals and filmmakers.

MIs location in the center of Hollywood is a key part of the equation, training students for contemporary music careers in the very heart of the contemporary music industry. One-of-a-kind facilities tucked just off Hollywood Boulevard surround students with professional tools and atmosphere including top-of-the-line recording studios, an array of project studios, dozens of workstations, HD editing systems, a 500-seat concert facility and a wide variety of performance stages, class-rehearsal rooms and practice labs.
