LAS VEGAS,
NEVADA (July 11, 2006) – Singer/songwriter and international recording
artist Fred Nassiri, founder of Nassiri Music and Entertainment, The Public
Education Foundation, and Lee Antonello Elementary School are developing a
pilot program that will introduce Nassiri’s title track and debut album,
“Love Sees No Color,” into the ethnic diversity curriculum at the school.
The pilot program will be funded by a grant from Nassiri to The Public
Education Foundation.
“We are very thankful to Mr. Nassiri, not only for his generous donation,
but also for his commitment to our public school children,” says Judi
Steele, president of The Foundation. “The partnership we’ve developed
between The Foundation, Mr. Nassiri, the Clark County School District (CCSD)
and Lee Antonello Elementary School will strengthen our children’s
understanding of diverse cultures.”
“‘Love Sees No Color’ is a compilation of 12 original compositions that
speak musically, lyrically and spiritually to the common bonds of the races
of the earth,” says Nassiri. “Love, hope and unity are the recurring themes
of the songs that resonate with the instruments and rhythms of countless
cultures and musical genres. Children are the key to any movement for world
peace, and this next generation must be exposed to uplifting music with a
positive message,” adds Nassiri.
The principal, Linda Reese, and 14 teachers at Lee Antonello Elementary
School, one of the CCSD’s new Empowerment Schools, have been working with
Nassiri for several months on the pilot program. They are developing
teaching materials to be used with the “Love Sees No Color” pilot program
that will strengthen the school’s ethnic diversity curriculum.
Once the program has been developed and tested at Lee Antonello Elementary
School, The Public Education Foundation and Nassiri Music will make it
available to other CCSD schools. Nassiri and his organization plan to take
the program statewide and then to the national and international level. An
outreach initiative is also underway by Nassiri Music to offer complementary
singing and music lessons to children in need.
CCSD Superintendent Dr. Walt Rulffes selected Lee Antonello Elementary
School and three other CCSD elementary schools as Empowerment Schools within
the new Superintendent’s School Region. The principals and teachers will
have greater decision-making authority over such things as budget, staff
improvement, staff selection, curriculum delivery, professional development
and scheduling and performance incentives with fewer central requirements.
The three other Empowerment Schools are Rose Warren Elementary School, Kirk
Adams Elementary School and Paul Culley Elementary School.
